The Carver Story: From Asphalt to Wave

More than 25 years on, Carver remains the world reference, driven by the same mission: letting you surf, no matter what the ocean is doing.

It all started with a waveless summer in Venice, California.

In 1996, Greg Falk and Neil Carver found themselves facing an endless "flat summer". Frustrated by their inability to surf, they took to the streets of Venice on their classic skateboards — but the feeling just wasn't there: traditional skating was too stiff and too linear. They dreamed of bringing the fluidity and drive of surfing to the concrete.

Unable to find any equipment that could reproduce that movement, they decided to invent it. After countless prototypes welded together in a garage and tested on the hills of Los Angeles, Carver Skateboards was born — and with it, an entirely new discipline: Surfskate.
